Only 85 metres from the Hotel Lewald there is a bicycle station, while the next bus stop lies just 70 metres away. Right in front of the hotel there is a cycle path that leads you to the Palaonda /Eiswelle – arena of the Bolzano Hockey Club, the exhibition center “Fiera Bolzano“, the Pfarhoff Sports Centre and the Messner Mountain Museum.

In about 30 minutes drive from the Hotel Lewald, you can reach the beautiful Dolomites, UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as some enchanted forests and crystal-clear lakes of South Tyrol.

While in Castel Firmiano - one of South Tyrol’s landmarks - you can visit the Messner Mountain Museum of the South Tyrolean mountaineer Reinhold Messner, in Castel Roncolo - which you can easily reach from our hotel either by foot or by bike - you can admire beautiful medieval frescoes, whereby the estate is also known as “Painted Castle“.

Close to the Hotel Lewald there is also Castel Mareccio, surrounded by enchanting vineyeards near the centre of Bolzano. And if you like events and celebrations, we recommend you a detour to the medieval Castel Flavon from where you can enjoy a wonderful view over the capital city of South Tyrol.

Bolzano is really bound to its culture as the great number of interesting museums in the city, and its surroundings, shows. Among them, we like to mention “Museo Civico”, which encloses the collections about the city history.

Do not miss the opportunity to go to the South Tyrol Archaeological Museum, which is famous for hosting Ötzi, the Similaun mummy found in the border between Italy and Austria. It is also worth visiting the Contemporary Art Museum (Museion) and the Messner Mountain Museum; the latter was founded and arranged by the renowned alpinist Reinhold Messner.
